March Madness Day 18: Rittz, Charles Hamilton & Future

Cover Arts (starting from the top; Rittz's "Top of the Line", Charles Hamilton's "The Pink Lavalamp" and Future's "Monster")

Rittz gets really overlooked on this sub and that's a shame, I want more people to check out this project. This is Rittz's best work to date. At first, you might be put off by the 24 tracks on the track listing but do not be alarmed as it's not 24 songs as much as it is unnecessary skits and the strange music tag for some reason, lol. But yeah, really solid, could've used some trimming in the track listing but overall Rittz is very engaging with his subject matter, and he has some of the best hooks (I think) in the game. Dude knows how to harmonize and make smooth car riding music. I really enjoyed this project and will be bumping this for the rest of the year.

  • Charles Hamilton - The Pink Lavalamp

Very melancholy project. I originally saw it being discussed on here as a very grim project and I have to agree. Hamilton originally said he was gonna commit suicide after the track "Shine" but he changed his mind. Pretty bone chilling stuff to think that I could've potentially been listening to a man's suicide note on wax. But yeah, this is a pleasant listen, I won't be going back to it, but it was cool for what it is. I really liked the "music" intro and I will be going back to that (even though Hamilton takes it to another level by saying "If you would write a song in your own blood then this song is for you" I was like "C'mon bruh, you were doing good on this intro, don't ruin it") and thankfully that "blood" line was in the outro of the song, so I could just skip it, but yeah, good stuff from Hamilton right here.

  • Future - Monster

Arguably Future's best mixtape and this mixtape in particular marked the breakthrough Future was making in his sound and popularity that eventually culminated in what I will think will be his magnum opus "Dirty Sprite 2". Really good shit right here, proves why lyrics aren't always everything in Hip Hop sometimes you just need a fire beat and a dude like Future who can flow his ass off without saying anything too outlandish or retarded lol but yeah, really enjoy this mixtape, I take my favorites from this mixtape and bump them when I can. I recently put on "Gangland" and my god that beat goes so hard it's not even fair. Oh and my favorite Future song of all time is on here, see if you can guess it...
